
TIOGA COUNTY — The New York State wrestling season draws to a close with a host of Tioga County wrestlers in medal contention, while the Section IV girls basketball playoffs hit their stride.
WRESTLING
New York State Division 2 Championships, 10 a.m. @ MVP Arena, Albany: Newark Valley senior Trevor Middendorf and Owego senior Bobby Struble are alive in the consolation bracket, and are one win away from reaching the medal stand.
Waverly's Troy Beeman and Drayton DeKay, and Tioga's Declan McKee are in the semifinals, while Waverly's Avery Bowman, Cooper Robinson, and Rhylee Stotler, and Tioga's Jayden Duncanson are still alive in wrestlebacks.

Section IV Playoffs
Class C Quarterfinals
8-Southern Cayuga (14-7) at 1-Newark Valley (16-4), 6 p.m.: The Cardinals have been off since a 50-42 win over Maine-Endwell on Feb. 18, while the Chiefs topped Bainbridge-Guilford in the quarterfinals.
The winner gets the winner of the game between fifth-seeded Unatego (14-4) and 13th-seeded Marathon (11-9) on Wednesday.
Class A Quarterfinals
5-Owego (8-12) at 4-Oneonta (9-10), 6 p.m.: The winner of the Owego-Oneonta game will travel to face top-seeded Johnson City (16-2) Wednesday.
