NEW YORK STATE GIRLS WRESTLING: SVEC'S BEACH, BOHLING WILL VIE FOR HARDWARE AT INAUGURAL NYSPHSAA CHAMPIONSHIPS (2025-02-26)

ALBANY — SVEC junior Tayah Beach and sophomore Dallas Bohling will be competing here Thursday at the inaugural NYSPHSAA Girls Wrestling Championships at the MVP Arena.

In recent years, New York has hosted an invitational, where top girls from around the state were selected to participate at States. This is the first year, wrestlers have had to earn their way to Albany.

Beach (27-8) is the seventh seed in the 120-pound bracket, and will face 10th-seeded Kennedy Lear (36-10) of Alexander in the opening round..

Dallas Bohling (28-7) is the 11th seed at 114 pounds, and will face Bethpage's sixth-seeded Gabriella Severin (3-0) in the opening round.

Also representing Tioga County will be Waverly junior Elona Holmes and Tioga senior Kali Bailey.

Elona Holmes (15-7) is the fifth seed at 165 pounds, and will face 12th-seeded Gwenyth Browne (8-0) of Roy C. Ketcham in the opening round.

Bailey (22-7) is the ninth seed at 132 pounds, and will square off with eighth-seeded Nora Bartholomew (27-7) of Deposit-Hancock in the opening round. It is a rematch of the Section IV finals won by Bartholomew. The two have split two matches this season.

Tioga freshman Kyah Nelson (25-2) will not be competing after winning the 185-pound title at the Section IV Championships.

Action begins at 10 a.m.
