IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: CANDOR CLOSES OUT REGULAR SEASON WITH 69-44 WIN OVER WATKINS GLEN (2025-02-19)

CANDOR — Jakobe Foster led three Candor scorers in double-figures, and led the Coyotes to a 69-44 win over Watkins Glen in the IAC boys basketball regular-season finale here Wednesday afternoon.

Foster pumped in 34 points, including six 3-pointers, to go along with eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one blocked shot, while Carson Heidl had 12 points, 13 rebounds, and four steals, and Donald Makie had 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Taegan Kwiatkowski chipped in with four points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one blocked shot for the Coyotes, while Ryan Huizinga grabbed five rebounds, and Jason Jantz had four boards.

Foster knocked down a trio of 3-pointers and scored 11 points in the first quarter, and Makie added a 3-pointer and five points as the Coyotes led 18-16 after the opening eight minutes.

Foster added 10 more points, including a pair of treys late in the second quarter, and Heidl added four points to fuel a 16-9 run to give Candor a 34-25 lead at the half.

Foster scored eight points in the third quarter, and Makie added four in a 16-10 advantage in the stanza to make it 50-35 heading into the final eight minutes.

Heidl scored six points in the fourth quarter, while Foster had five points, including his sixth 3-pointer, and Cam Sinn and Nick Oakes each added 3-pointers to fuel a game-closing 19-9 blitz.

Candor, winners of eight straight, wrap up the regular season at 15-5.
