
OWEGO — Madison McEvoy was on fire from long distance to lead Owego to a 68-35 win over Seton Catholic here Wednesday night in STAC Central Division girls basketball action.
Madison McEvoy pumped in 25 points, including eight 3-pointers, while Lexi Herceg scored 16 points, and Jenna McEvoy added 15 points.
Madison McEvoy knocked down three 3-pointers in the first quarter, and Jenna McEvoy added five points, including a 3-pointer, to lead Owego in an 18-10 run in the opening stanza.
Madison McEvoy added two more 3-pointers and scored eight points in the second quarter, and Jenna McEvoy scored more points, including her second trey, in a 17-8 run that pushed the River Hawks' lead to 35-18 at the half.
Herceg pumped in 10 points in the third quarter, while Jenna and Madison McEvoy each drained 3-pointers in a 16-9 run that gave Owego a 51-27 lead heading into the final eight minutes.
Madison McEvoy knocked down her seventh and eighth 3-pointers of the game in the fourth quarter, and six of her teammates also found the scoring column in a game-closing 17-8 run.
Owego, now 7-11, hosts Schenevus Monday.
