Tioga County Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — SVEC junior Rodney Vaow pulled a pair of upset to win a title at the Section IV, Division 2 wrestling Qualifier "A," and Owego sophomore Dylan Brace dominated his weight class at Qualifier "B," while Newark Valley senior Adriana Finta led the Cardinals to a pair of wins. They are the TCSR / Guthrie Community Credit Union "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Feb. 8.
SVEC'S VAOW, OWEGO'S BRACE NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION BOYS "ATHLETES OF THE WEEK"
Vaow scored a pair of technical falls, and a decision to win the 131-pound title at the Qualifier "A."
Vaow opened with an 18-3 technical fall, then beat second-seeded Evan Merrell of Maine-Endwell in a 17-1 technical fall.
In the finals, Vaow rallied from a 4-2 deficit to beat top-seeded Evan Sheils of Lansing in the finals.
Brace scored a technical fall, and two pins to win the 138-pound bracket at Qualifier "B."
After an 18-0 technical fall in the quarterfinals, and a second-period pin in the semifinals, Brace pinned Walton-Delhi's Justin Somers in 5:01 in the finals.

NEWARK VALLEY'S FINTA NAMED GUTHRIE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Finta averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4.5 steals in a pair of Newark Valley wins.
Finta led Newark Valley with 22 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, six rebounds, 10 assists, and three steals in a 78-36 win over Notre Dame.
She had six points, six rebounds, four assists, six steals, and one blocked shot in a 57-35 win over Lansing.
