CANDOR — Sophomore Donald Makie had a career night, and junior Jakobe Foster registered his second triple-double in a row to lead Candor to a 64-53 win over Groton here Tuesday night in IAC Small School crossover boys basketball action.
Makie pumped in 29 points, inctsluding seven 3-pointers, and Foster had 18 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, three steals, and one blocked shot.
Carson Heidl added nine points and 11 rebounds, while Ryan Huizinga and Jason Jantz grabbed three rebounds apiece.
Foster scored 10 points in the first quarter, and Makie added a pair of 3-pointers to help Candor to a 17-13 lead.
Makie drained four 3-pointers and scored 16 points in the second quarter, while Heidl scored four points, and Foster added a 3-pointer to fuel a 23-12 run that pushed the lead to 40-25 at the half.
Makie scored seven points in the third quarter, and Matthew Smith added a 3-pointer.
Foster scored eight points in the fourth quarter, and Candor nailed down the win, despite making just 4 of 12 free-throw attempts.
Candor improves to 14-5 on the season.
