NV GIRLS SWEEP LANSING; BOYS SWEPT

NEWARK VALLEY — The Newark Valley boys won two games, but lost total-pinfall by 1 pin in a 2-2 split with Groton here Monday afternoon, while the Lady Cardinals notched their second sweep in a row in IAC bowling action at Cardinal Lanes.
It was Senior Night for the Cardinals, who honored seniors James Wales, Lyla Dufresne and Riley Levine.
BOYS
Newark Valley 2, Groton 2
The Cardinals won the first game 781-776, but the Red Hawks answered with a 827-768 win in the second game. Newark Valley bounced back with an 832-779 win in the third game, but Groton held on for a total-pinfall win of 2,382 to 2,381.
Devon Green led Newark Valley with a 557 series, including a 226 in the first game, while Wales shot a 499, and John SLoughter rolled a 495.
MasonPeck had a 413 for the Cardinals, while William Simmons added a 396, and Lavine tacked on a 360.
Elijah Brehm led Groton with a 526, and Mike Brehm shot a 524.
Friday
Lansing 4, Newark Valley 0
Lansing had a pair of bowlers roll 600 series in a sweep of Newark Valley Friday.
Green led the Cardinals with a 543 series, while Sloughter shot a 442, and Wales rolled a 436.
Peck added a 421 for NV, and Simmons tacked on a 389.
Newark Valley returns to action Thursday at Candor.
GIRLS
Newark Valley 4, Groton 0
The Cardinals won the first game 822-645, and followed it up with wins of 734-561 and 718-635 for a total-pinfall victory of 2,274 to 1,841.
Abigail Dufresne led Newark Valley with a 514 series, including a 210 in the first game, while Rachel Hartman shot a 477, and Lyla Dufresne rolled a 469.
Brook Illsley had a 419 for the Cardinals, while Olivia Vaughn added a 367, and Maeanna Jackson tacked on a 325.
Mariah VanEtten led Groton with a 455.
Friday
Newark Valley 4, Lansing 0
The Cardinals won the first game 723-597 and followed it up with wins of 742-563 and 701-654 for a total-pinfall win of 2,166 to 1,814 on a Friday.
Hartman led the Cardinals with a 539 series, while Abigail Dufresne shot a 450, and Lyla Dufresne rolled a 439.
Brook Illsley added a 420, and Maeanna Jackson tacked on a 304.
Regina Zuniga led Lansing with a 402 series.
Newark Valley returns to action Thursday at Candor.
