Tioga County Sports ReportWAVERLY — Newark Valley is the fifth seed here Wednesday at the Section IV Wrestling Duals at Waverly High School.
Unatego-Unadilla Valley (20-5) is the top seed and Waverly (11-3) is the second seed. They will each receive a first-round bye.
In the quarterfinals, third-seed Maine-Endwell (8-2) will take on sixth-seed Oneonta (11-6) — the winner wrestles Waverly, and fourth-seed Windsor (7-1) will square off with fifth-seed Newark Valley (5-0) — the winner gets U-UV — at 4:30 p.m.
The semifinals will begin at 6 p.m., with the finals slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
For the first time since the inception of the New York State Duals, Tioga, the three-time defending state champions, will not have a chance to represent Section IV after posting a 3-3 duals record.
