IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: TIOGA KNOCKS OFF S-VE, 55-43 (18 PHOTOS) (2025-01-17)

SPENCER — Spencer-VanEtten kept it close into the fourth quarter, but Tioga made its free throws down the stretch to pull out a 55-43 win here Friday night in IAC South Small School boys basketball action.

Luukas Carling scored nine points, including a 3-pointer, and Christoper Merrick added four points, including a trey, but Tioga's Jackson Bombard and Trystan Barto each drained a pair from long range and combined for 15 points to help the Tigers to a 15-13 lead after the first eight minutes.

Carling and Merrick combined for 10 points in the second quarter, but Tioga used a 13-10 advantage to take a 28-23 lead into the halftime locker room.

Tioga added two points to its lead in the third quarter, outscoring S-VE, 10-8, to take a 38-31 lead into the final eight minutes.

Bombard scored 12 points in the fourth quarter. He was 8-for-12 from the free-throw line, and made six in a row to help the Tigers nail down the win.

Carling pumped in 25 points to lead the Panthers, and Merrick scored 16.

Bombard poured in a game-high 28 points to lead the Tigers.

S-VE, now 0-9, hosts Waverly Saturday.
