IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: O-M TOPS CANDOR, 49-43, TO SNAP 8-GAME WIN STREAK (2025-01-15)

ODESSA — Odessa-Montour built a 12-point halftime lead, and held off Candor's fourth-quarter to snap the Coyotes' eight-game win streak with a 49-43 win here Tuesday night in IAC Small School Division girls basketball action.
The Grizzlies scored the first 7 points of the game before an Emmi Makie 3-pointer put Candor on the board. O-M led 17-11 at the end of the opening eight minutes.
Candor's turnover woes would continue into the second quarter, and O-M added to its lead with a 12-6 spurt to take a 29-17 lead into the halftime locker room.
The Coyotes trimmed the deficit to 10 points after three quarters, and used a 7-0 spurt midway through the final stanza to close the gap to three points.
Candor had several possessions to tie the game, but could not find the net.
Makie ended up with a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Claire Rollins scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds, and Hazel Ray scored six points and hauled down 14 boards.
Malley Heidl scored five points, including a 3-pointer, while Megan Williamson added a 3-pointer, and Shawna Conklin pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds.
Evvie Zinger led O-M with 19 points, and Leah Antes added 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The Coyotes (8-2) return to action Friday when they host Union Springs in an IAC crossover game.
