Tioga County Sports ReportGROTON — Groton jumped out to an early double-digit lead, and cruised to a 65-32 win over S-VE here Friday night in IAC Small School crossover boys basketball action.
The Red Hawks led 20-8 after the first quarter, then used a 15-8 run in the second quarter to extend their lead to 35-16 at the half.
After the Panthers used an 11-8 spurt in the third quarter to close the gap to 16 points, at 43-27, Groton closed the game with a 22-5 blitz.
Luukas Carling led S-VE with 10 points and Christopher Merrick scored eight points.
Sean O'Brien and Conor Eldred scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, to lead a balanced Red Hawk attack.
S-VE, now 0-7, travels to Newfield Tuesday.
