Tioga County Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — The Southern Tier Memorial Wrestling Tournament at the LeCom Center in Elmira headlines Friday busy night of action, which also includes a full slate of basketball games.
WRESTLING
Southern Tier Memorial, 3 p.m. @ LeCom Center, Elmira: The Southern Tier Memorial has grown to 38 teams, including Owego, SVEC, Newark Valley, as well as Athens, Sayre, Tioga, and Waverly, Thomas A. Edison, Elmira, Corning, and Horseheads.
The field also includes teams from around New York State, including St. Anthony's, Tottenville, Canandaigua, Canisteo-Greenwood, Watertown; and Section IV, including BGAH, U-E, Ithaca, Trumansburg, Whitney Point, Schuyler, Groton, and Vestal.
Pennsylvania is also well-represented with Wyoming Area, Bellefonte, Chambersburg, Lackawanna Trail, Penn Valley, Scranton Prep, and South Williamsport.
The longest trip will be made by West Springfield, Mass.
