WAVERLY — The Owego boys won the first two games, but Waverly rallied with a big third game for a 3-2 win here Monday afternoon, while the Lady River Hawks were swept in STAC bowling action at the Valley Bowling Center.
BOYS
Waverly 3, Owego 2
The River Hawks won the first game 1,079-995, and the second game 1,064-1,030 to build a 118-pin lead, but Wolverines won the third game by 198 — 1,132-934 — for a two-point total-pinfall win of 3,157 to 3,077.
Evan O'Hara led Owego with a 729 series on games of 236, 289, and 204, while Connor Kotski shot a 632 on games of 245, 207, and 160, and Grayden Stanton had a 628 on games of 215, 214, and 199.
Devan Card shot a 593, including a 235 in the first game, for Owego, while Grayson Quick added games of 149 and 167, and Chase Romeo shot 179 in the third game.
Derek Johnson banged out a 732 series on games of 217, 236, and 279 to lead the Wolverines, while Dom Wood rolled a 636 on games of 200, 194, and 242, Maison Apgar shot a 627 on games of 209, 203, and 215, and Tristan Campbell had a 609 on games of 200, 213, and 196.
GIRLS
Waverly 5, Owego 0
The Wolverines won the first game 815-674, and followed it up with wins of 838-751, and 841-760 for a total-pinfall win of 2,494 to 2,185.
Elizabeth Reigle led Owego with a match-high 583 series, including games of 210 and 202, and Izzy Coventry had a 545 series.
Elaina Anshultz shot a 424 series for the River Hawks, while Izzy Taylor added a 362 series, and Maddie Tinney takes on a 271.
Serenity Conklin shot a 533, including a 202 in the first game, to pace Waverly, while Rylie Witman rolled a 524, including a 209 in the third game, and Karis Hayes had a 520.
Ariel Houseknecht added a 494 for the Wolverines, and Aby Apgar tacked on a 423.
Owego returns to action Wednesday at Chenango Forks.
