COLONIE, N.Y. — Junior RaeAnn Craft won an individual title, and three of her teammates made the podium to lead Owego to a 12th-place finish in the 30-team field at the rugged Kristie Stenglein-Davis Girls Wrestling Tournament here Saturday.
Eighth-grader Michaela Daly placed fourth for the River Hawks, and juniors Tatum Kowalski and Callie Deming each placed sixth.
Shaker, with 22 wrestlers, ran away with the team title with 360 points, while Bethlehem Central (13) was second with 206, Niskayuna-Schnectady (13) was third with 176.5 points, Columbia (11) was fourth with 171, and Tioga (9) was fifth with 142 points. Owego (8) tallied 74.5 points.
Craft, who had just one match this season heading into the tournament, went 5-0 to win the 126-pound A pool title.
Craft notched pins in 45 seconds and 2:14 in pool action, then decked Colonie's Madison Arkansan in 67 seconds in the quarterfinals.
Craft scored identical tech falls of 10-0 in the semifinals against Shaker's Kenna Rolston, and in the finals against Niskayuna-Schnectady's Amy Erickson.
Daly won her first three bouts of the day, but finished 3-2 to place fourth in the 107-pound B pool.
Daly scored a 10-2 decision over Hoosick Falls' Tinley Mayr, then registered a 12-1 tech fall over Coxsackie's Alana Ames, and a 10-0 tech fall of Shaker's Chloe Paulus.
After losing her final pool play bout via third-period fall, Daly dropped a 7-6 decision to Bethlehem Central's Arabella Frye in the third-place match.
Tatum Kowalski was 2-3 to finish sixth in the 138-pound B Pool. Her first win in pool play was a medical forfeit.
She scored a 10-0 tech fall of Cobelskill-Richmondville's Miranda Cancio in the consolation semifinals, then lost via tech fall to Tioga's Cora Szymanski in the fifth-place match.
Callie Deming was 1-3 in her pool to place sixth at 114 pounds. Her lone win was a 32-second fall of Kingston's Cali Chambers.
Senior Haditha Hussain Ali was 2-3 to finish seventh in the 152-pound pool. She scored a 45-second fall of Niskayuna-Schnectady's Sharaii Lewis in pool play, then pinned Lewis again in 31 seconds in the seventh-place match.
Junior Carissa Chandler was 2-3 to finish seventh in the 126-pound B pool. Chandler opened the day with a 32-second pin of Mohonasen's Madeline Rose in pool play, and closed the day picking up a medical forfeit in the seventh-place match.
Junior Ashlee Crawford-Bauer was 1-3 to finish seventh at 107 pounds. Her lone win was a 57-second pin of Genevieve Schuttig of Hoosick Falls in the seventh-place match.
Eighth-grader Mikenna Wilbur was 0-5 at 126 pounds.
