Tioga County Sports ReportNEWARK VALLEY — Newark Valley jumped on top early, and cruised to a 43-21 win overr Lansing here Friday night in IAC Large School junior varsity girls basketball action.
Brianna Noble scored six points in the first quarter to spark the Cardinals in a 12-4 game-opening run.
Brianna Noble and Peyton Rhodes each scored four points in the second quarter to fuel a 12-4 run that gave Newark Valley a 24-8 lead at the half.
Lansing chipped one point off the lead in the third quarter with a 7-6 advantage in scoring, but Brianna Noble pumped in eight points in the fourth quarter to lead a game-closing 13-6 run.
Brianna Noble led Newark Valley with 18 points, seven rebounds, and nine steals, while Rhodes had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and one blocked shot, and Madeline Noble had four points, four boards, three steals, and one blocked shot.
Elle Webb had four points and one block in the win, while Gabby James had seven rebounds, eight assists, and three steals, and Leah Lansing grabbed three rebounds.
Gianna Giammocco and Ava Koblarz led Lansing with five points apiece.
Newark Valley returns to action Tuesday at Notre Dame.
