THE SPORTS REPORTS: NORTHEAST BRADFORD'S DEWING NAMED BOYS ALL-REGION 'RUNNER OF YEAR;' OWEGO DUO EARN ALL-REGION ACCOLADES (2024-12-23)

The area boys’ runners had a strong season this year on both sides of the border, as even some history was made.

Northeast Bradford’s Creed Dewing became the NTL’s first four-time boys state medalist, ending his career with a top-10 finish. He also became a three-time District 4 champion, earning him The Sports Reports' 2024 All-Region Boys "Runner of the Year."

Corning’s Christopher Lawson was 12th at sectionals, and 23rd at the STAC for the Hawks as a freshman, earning him the "Newcomer of the Year" honors.

In his third season on the team, Corning’s Bryce Hammond was 17th at the STAC Championships, and 11th at sectionals, earning the "Breakout Runner of the Year" honors.

In his first year as coach, Northeast Bradford's Dillon Lockwood led his team to an undefeated NTL season, a District IV, Class A team title, and a top-six finish at States, earning him the "Coach of the Year" honors.

The first team consists of Dewing, Hammond, Athens’ Graham Wanck, Owego’s Javan Belokur, and Corning’s Jaxyn Mahoney, Nick Ferratella, Sebastian Boutwell, and Greg Home.

The second team is made up of Northeast Bradford's Ryan Jones, Corning’s Christopher Lawson, Horseheads’ Nick Kowal, and Allen Wetmore, Wellsboro’s Max Macias, Canton’s Lawrence Halbfoerster, North Penn-Mansfield's James Knefley, Wyalusing’s Trennan Tewksbury, and Owego’s Sullivan O’Donnell.

On the third team is Horseheads’ Gavin Hornsby, Troy’s Evan Geer, and Frank Harper, Towanda’s Jack Tavani, Boom Thompson, and Jacob Carr, Northeast Bradford's Jackson Martin, Athens’ Ethan Hicks, Cowanesque Valley's Hunter Simonds, and Notre Dame’s Gavin Meier.
