Tioga County Sports ReportOWEGO — The Owego flag football team is looking into the possibility of playing in the 2024 USA Flag Championships.
The tournament will be held Jan. 18-19, 2025 in Tampa, Florida.
River Hawks head coach Rusty Virkler said the plan is to take the 2024 Section IV Division 2 championship team, which posted a 16-1 overall record and advanced to the state semifinals.
The school can not be associated with the team or the tournament, so Virkler will need to come up with a different name if the team competes.
Virkler also noted there are a lot of details which need to be worked out before the tournament becomes a reality for the team.
