The Sports ReportsBetween fall and spring there was plenty of girls’ tennis action on the courts around the region, with several players turning in memorable seasons.
The Sports Reports’ 2024 All-Region “Player of the Year” is Cowanesque Valley’s Kylee Stone. Stone went 6-4, leading the Indians to another NTL title at first singles.
The “Doubles Team of the Year” is Corning’s Jessica Fang and Sophia Myers. The duo went 8-2 in the regular season, and was just one match short of making States at the Section IV State Qualifier.
The “Newcomer of the Year” is Owego’s Morgan Carrigg. The first-year senior was competitive throughout the season for a young River Hawks team in both singles and doubles, and in doubles in the Section IV Class B tournament.
Cowanesque Valley coach Melissa Boyer is the “Coach of the Year,” after leading the Indians to another league title.

Marissa Greiss, North Penn-Liberty: The first single player out of NP-L, she was also a first-team NTL All-star.
Hannah Nuss, Wellsboro: The first single player out of Wellsboro, she was a first-team NTL All-star.
Lainey Alderfer, Towanda: Towanda’s number one, she was a first-team NTL All-star.
Emma Frost, Corning: Frost won five matches at first singles for Corning this year, while going 6-6 overall.
