HS TRACK & FIELD: NEWARK VALLEY COLLECTS SEVERAL TOP-5 FINISHES AT ROTARY RELAYS (2024-03-30)

BINGHAMTON — The Newark Valley boys and girls track & field teams earned several top-5 finishes apiece at the Rotary Relays held at Chenango Forks High School Thursday.
The boys pole vault relay duo of Nate Hinckley and Andrew Lelik cleared a combined 15 feet to place third. Both vaulters hit 7-6 to tie for 8th in the individual competition.
The boys 4x400- and 4x800-meter relays, and the girls 1600 sprint medley relay finished in fourth place.
Aubrey Kwiatkowski, Anika Smith, Olivia Vaughn and Harley Switzer posted a time of 5:01.76 in the medley relay.
Titus Callahan, Jackson Hoover, Zion King and Elijah Williams clocked 3:55.43 in the 4x400 while Callahan and Hoover teamed with Marcos Escalante and Valentin Perdrix for a time of 9:22.82 in the 4x800.
Callahan also took seventh in the high jump, reaching 5-2.
The girls high jump relay took fourth also, clearing 8-1. Vaughn hit 4-4 (4th individually) and Kam Short made it at 3-9 (11th).
Dan Truesdail was fifth in the shot put at 38-3, and he teamed with Seth Northrop to take fifth in the shot put relay at 69-1.
Northrop and Jack Blomberg were fifth in the discus relay at 160-4 with Northrop taking 10th in the individual competition at 81-9.
Emily LaPorte and Leah Lansing placed fifth in the triple jump relay at 55-0 ¾ with LaPorte coming in eighth individually (27-10 ¾).
The Cardinals’ Carlee Vice, Abigail Dufresne, Bella King and Ryan Schweckdieck took sixth in the 4x100 throwers relay with a time of 1:07.35.
Vice and Dufresne were also ninth in the shot put relay at 39-6 ¼ while King and Schweckdieck came in 10th in the discus relay at 129-3, and Vice placed 10th in the individual shot put (21-11).
The girls 4x200 relay of Smith, Hailey Keith, Kwiatkowski and Adriana Rich finished seventh in 2:08.16.
Also placing seventh was the boys long jump relay of King and Hinckley at 32-7 ¾.
Claiming eighth were the girls long jump relay of McCloskey and Lansing with a 21-0 ¾, and the boys triple jump relay of Williams and John Sloughter at 66-1 ½.
Vaughn, Switzer, Smith and Brook Illsley came in ninth in the girls distance medley, recording a time of 15:40.13, and the girls 4x400 of Abigail Escalante, Mallory Gregrow, McCloskey and Lansing took 10th with a 5:27.02.
Newark Valley took ninth out of 14 boys teams and 10th out of 15 girls teams.
NV is off until an April 11 meet at Marathon.
