
OWEGO — The Owego volleyball team is back on top. The River Hawks swept rival Windsor, 3-0, to reclaim the STAC championship Friday evening.
The Black Knights didn’t give up without a fight, hanging tight in the first two sets which Owego won, 28-26 and 25-23. The Hawks had a little bit more room to breathe in the final set which ended, 25-18.
Lexi Herceg and Maggie Hamed recorded double-doubles to lead the River Hawk charge. Herceg dished out 19 assists and gathered in 18 digs while Hamed had 15 kills and a dozen digs. Hamed also added three aces and two blocks.
Shannon Maslin contributed 18 digs and a trio of assists; Michaela Terry chipped in with five kills and three blocks; Kayla Newman added six kills; Emma Bryant chipped in with four kills; Logan Georgia blocked three shots and Bella Miller handed out four assists.
Owego (15-2) takes on top-seeded Maine-Endwell (9-3) Nov. 5 at Corning at 4 p.m. for the Section IV Class A championship.
