NEWFIELD — Allie Lyon and Meradyth Stouffer scored multiple goals as SVEC won its second game of the season, defeating Newfield, 5-0, Tuesday in IAC girls soccer action.

Stouffer scored the game-winning goal 23:16 into the first half with Lyon providing the assist. Lyon added an unassisted goal at 32:12 and Katie Coppage rounded out the first-half scoring with an unassisted tally at 34:31.

In the second half, Lyon scored at 29:08 and Stouffer scored at 31:15 to give the Eagles a 5-0 advantage.

“We played down a player again tonight but we were finally able to get a positive result,” SVEC coach Megan Friscia said.

“Allie and Mer worked very well together up front and made some key combinations that created chances for us. As a team we were finding the feet of our own players and worked the ball up the field.”

SVEC took 21 shots while the Trojans had nine. The Eagles held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Newfield goalkeeper made 10 saves and the Eagles’ Hannah Magyar had six.

“Newfield’s goalie did a great job and made some awesome saves,” Friscia said.

The two teams meet again today at Candor.
