IAC BOYS SOCCER: SVEC ROLLS PAST TIOGA, 7-0 (2023-09-25)

TIOGA CENTER — The SVEC boys soccer team scored five first-half goals to record its third shutout victory in the last four games, defeating Tioga, 7-0, in IAC action Monday.

“The boys did a great job moving the ball and winning the 50/50 balls in the middle of the field,” SVEC co-coach Jason Banks said. “Our solid defense and work in the midfield helped create a number of good attacking chances that we were able to finish.”

The Eagles got an early goal from Steven Novak in the fifth minute with the assist going to Kyle Jantz.

Noah Banks made it 2-0 in the 10th minute, assisted by Novak, then Novak made it 3-0 in the 16th minute, assisted by Banks.

Banks connected for a 4-0 lead in the 22nd minute with Owen Bly picking up the assist.

Kyle Jantz made it 5-0 in the 38th minute with the assist going to Novak.

The second half saw Novak tally in the 13th minute with the assist going to Kody Goble.

Jason Jantz closed out the scoring in the 31st minute with Novak earning the assist.

SVEC took 18 shots and attempted five corner kicks.

Sirron Irvin had four saves for the Eagles (7-2) and Jake Browne made 10 for Tioga (6-3-2).

SVEC hosts Trumansburg (7-0-1), ranked 14th in Class C, Thursday at 7 p.m. as part of a doubleheader. The girls teams play at 4:30 p.m.
