Cowanesque Valley won the Northern Tier League title, and qualified for the District 4 Championships. Much of that success was due to the play of Paisley Nudd, who is The Sports Reports’ Girls Tennis “Player of the Year.”
Nudd, who went 5-2 at No. 1 singles, also competed in the district team championship with the Indians. She was named the Northern Tier League West Sports Report All-Tioga County (Pa.) “Player of the Year.”
Elmira Notre Dame’s Kate Welliver and Isabella Busch make up the “Doubles Team of the Year.” Welliver was a strong performer at second doubles and combined with Busch to win the Section IV Class C championship.
The “Newcomer of the Year” is Annabelle Johns from North-Penn Liberty. Named the NTL’s top rookie, the freshman teamed with Ella Weiskopff to present a formidable duo at No. 2 doubles.
Cowanesque Valley’s Melissa Boyer is the “Coach of the Year.” She led the Indians to an unbeaten 6-0 record and a 9-3 overall mark. She also guided CV into the District 4 team playoffs.
