Tioga County Sports ReportELMIRA — Competitors at the 2023 NYSPHSAA Boys Golf Championships were met with some brutal winds on the Mark Twain Golf Course layout Sunday.
Banks is in an 8-way tie for 52nd place with an 84. Among those tied with him is Section IV teammate Jack Creath of Corning.
Section IV holds the top two spots after 18 holes. Hunter-Tannersville’s Grady Glennon captured the opening day lead, shooting an even-par 72. Union-Endicott’s Dante Bertoni is tied for second with a 73.
Section IV sits in second place with a 554 team score, trailing only Section V, which sits at 539. Section I is third with a 560.
Banks tees off at 7:42 a.m. Monday with Noah Tyler of Section II and Nico Horan-Puglia from Section XI.
