OWEGO — Owego broke open a scoreless game in the second inning and rolled to a 13-0, 5-inning victory over Seton Catholic Thursday.
Maddie Bennett contributed to the win in threes — going 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.
After the Indians retired the Saints on a Brooklyn Gaurnier-to-Jordan Greeno-to-Sarah Terry 5-6-3 double play, Bennett got the scoring started. She smacked a two-run double, plating Carsten Crawford and Saylor Ayers, both of whom had singled, then scored to make it 3-0.
In the third, Chelsea Rollison reached on an error, and Greeno, Layla Etienne and Terry hammered out RBI singles. All four players made it home safely to give Owego a 7-0 cushion.
Bennett singled and Francisco followed with an RBI double in the fourth, then Greeno singled, Laubach reached on an error, Etienne brought in a run on a ground out to give the Indians a 10-0 cushion.
Terry reached on an error in the fifth, but was erased on a Crawford fielder’s choice. Ayers would single and Bennett would single to score Crawford. Donovan would bring Ayers and Bennett in with a single, invoking the mercy rule.
Donovan would contribute to the Indians’ 14 hit attack, going 2-for-3 with a run and three RBI. Greeno went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Crawford and Ayers both went 2-for-3 with two runs. Etienne and Terry each went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI, Rollison tacked on one run.
