STAC TRACK & FIELD: OWEGO COMPETES AT WINDSOR INVITE, IN DUAL MEET AGAINST CV (2022-05-07)

WINDSOR — Owego collected four individual victories at the Gerry O’Donnell Invitational here Friday.

There were 14 teams at the meet and the top six individuals and relay teams placed in each event.

“Owego track and field athletes did very well, placing in a variety of events both on the track and in the field,” Owego coach Scott Senko said. “The girls team finished fourth overall and the boys took fifth place.”

Alexandra Senko won the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.81, took second in the 400 hurdles in 1:14.10, second in the triple jump with a jump of 28-11 and was a member of the second-place 4x400m relay team. She scored 28 points for the girls team.

Stella Palladino won the 100 in 13.34 seconds, was fifth in the 200 and was also on the 4x400 relay. She scored 14 team points.

Jaelyn Chrysler won the 3,000 in 11:05.26 and was also on the 4x400m relay, and collected 12 team points. Alyssa Stephens placed fourth in the steeplechase.

Sidney Senko finished sixth in the 400 and was on the 4x400 relay team.

Abby Fahey was sixth in the 1500.

The girls 4x800 relay quartet of Ella Rieg, Abby Luke, Sydney Watson and Logan Georgia took third.

Jace Stuart won the 1600, clocking 4:41.13 and accounted for 10 points.

Caleb Hoover finished second in the discus with a throw of 110 feet, scoring eight points.

Evan Wasielewski placed fourth in the 110 hurdles in 19.11 seconds, was fifth in the 400 hurdles and was a member of the third place 4x400m relay. He scored 7 1/2 points.

Dominick Mahonski took fourth in the shot put with a heave of 38-1.

Seth Chandler took fourth in the discus with a throw of 93 feet.

Christian Hodges placed fourth in the steeplechase.

Sam Cunningham was fifth in the pole vault.

The 4x400 relay foursome of Chris Porter, Joey Mikels, Adam Gault and Wasielewski took third.

The 4x800 relay group of Sully O'Donnell, Jaxson Belokur, Dawson Bell and Hunter Pitcher was fourth.

TUESDAY
Owego competed at Chenango Valley. The girls dropped a close battle, 72-64, and the boys fell by a 92-49 score.

In the girls meet, the Indians had a pair of double winners in the individual events. Alex Senko won the 100 hurdles in 17.7 seconds and the 400 hurdles in 1:14.6 while Palladino captured the 100 in 13.6 seconds and the 200 in 30 seconds flat.

Sidney Senko won the 400, clocking 1:16, and Chrysler took the 1500 in 5:32.

Owego won two relays, the 4x400 with both Senkos, Palladino and Chrysler in 4:53.8, and the 4x800 with Fahey, Maggie Huizinga, Stephens and Chrysler in 12:02.7.

Runners-up were Alex Senko in the triple jump (30-6 ½), Huizinga in the high jump (4-6), Watson in the 800 (3:04.2), Alex Anderson in the 1500 (6:29.2) and Hailey McHugh in the 3200 (13:08.1).

Placing third were Hodges in the 200 (:32.2), Anderson in the 1500 (3:06.8), Rieg in the 1500 (6:43.6) and Huizinga in the 3200 (13:23.8).

On the boys side, Wasielewski won the 110 hurdles with a time of 18.8 seconds, Cameron Squire took the 400 in 56.5 seconds, Magavin Allen was first in the 1600 with a 5:17, Stuart won the 3200 in 10:44.4, Hoover hurled the discus 97-2 for the win and Mahonski heaved the shot put 36-5 for first.

Second place went to Ben Loomis in the 400 (:58.5), Stuart in the 800 (2:17.1), Cunningham in the pole vault (8-6) and Chandler in the discus (95-1)

Claiming thirds were Georgia in the 800 (2:32.4) and the 1500 (5:30), and Pitcher in the 3200 (12:14.6).

Some of the Owego athletes will compete in the 3 Bald Guys Pentathlon at Johnson City Wednesday and the team will head to the Parkhurst Invitational at Union-Endicott next Saturday.
