Tioga County Sports ReportROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore Josh Post was named Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week after winning the Mideast Futures Tournament recently.
The first-year wrestler from Newark Valley posted a 4-0 record for the 17th-ranked Tigers, leading RIT to a third-place finish in the tournament held at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Post recorded two pins, a technical fall and a decision en route to the title at 141 pounds.
He won a 6-2 decision over Cortland's Vincent Santilli in the championship bout.
Post decked Cortland's Ryan Hart in 6:35 in his opener, then racked up an 18-3 tech fall over Gettysburg's Anthony Cascio in the quarterfinals. He followed that by dispatching Alva's Paul Kakos in 4:09 in the semifinals.
