IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: WATKINS GLEN PULLS AWAY FROM CANDOR (2022-01-11)

CANDOR — Watkins Glen rode a 16-3 third-quarter run to a 42-21 victory over Candor in IAC girls basketball action here Tuesday.

The Senecas took a 15-10 lead into halftime, then built a 31-13 cushion behind six points from Jenna Solomon and a pair of 3-pointers by Rachel Vickio.

Vickio added two more threes in the fourth quarter, giving her five treys on the night.

Watkins jumped in front, 9-2, in the first period, but the Indians took Q2, 8-6, thanks to a trey and a free throw from Brooke Wilcox, and a pair of baskets by Pearl Ricardo.

Ricardo led Candor with 11 points. Wilcox pulled down 11 rebounds, and contributed contributed six points and six steals.

Meckenzie Marsh added two points and four steals, Cadri Edwards had two points and five rebounds.

Vickio led all scorers with 15 points and Solomon had 11.

Both teams were missing players from their line-ups. Watkins Glen played with six girls while the Indians had seven.

Candor hosts Southern Cayuga Friday.
