OWEGO — Owego (Gregory) went 11 days without a game in Owego Little League 10U Tournament play, but returned to action here Sunday, falling to Maine-Endwell (Novotny), 4-3.

Owego opened double elimination play with a 7-0 forfeit win over Trumansburg July 5, then faced top-seeded M-E Sunday (the team played three other games elsewhere).

Against, M-E, consecutive singles by Ben Harvey, Jeremiah Wheeler and Dylan Gregory would give Owego a 1-0 first-inning edge.

Gregory would draw a base on balls in the top of the fourth and score on Camden Thole's double for a 2-0 lead.

M-E came back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, but Owego made it 3-2 in the fifth after Truett Hall belted a double and scored following an error on Harvey's ground ball.

Maine-Endwell tied the game in the its half of the inning on a double and single, then scored the winning run on an error and single in the sixth.

Harvey, Wheeler, Gregory, Thole, Joram Belokur and Hall had Owego's hit.

Wheeler struck out eight batters, scattered six hits and did not issue a walk before exiting the mound after five innings.

Owego was set to play Union-Endicott (Wiseman) in an elimination game Sunday, but rain halted play in the first inning. They will meet again Monday at 5:30 p.m. The winner faces M-E in Tuesday's championship game.
