NEWARK VALLEY — Candor and Newfield visited Newark Valley Tuesday to battle in an IAC South Small School.

The Cardinals competed as well, but did not count in the team scoring. Newfield defeated Candor, 73-38.

Candor results
Ben Dizer raced to victory in the 200 and 400 with times of 25.8 seconds and 56.2 seconds, respectively.

Luke Huizinga placed third in the discus with a toss of 76-5.

The understaffed Indian entered just seven of the 17 events.

Newark Valley results
The Cardinal quartet of John Boldis, Danny Pirger, Connor Yetter and Jonny Sherwood won the 4x800 relay in 9:29.4.

John Simmons (:20.5) and Brandon Randell (:22.0) finished 1-2 in the 110 hurdles.

Raidyn Ford was victorious in the 100 (:11.8).

Sherwood (4:54.7), Yetter (5:20) and Danny Pirger (5:21.8) went 1-2-3 in the 1600.

Ford, Josh Duke, Derrick Kalpokas and Randell won the 4x100 relay (:49.5).

Noah Waterman took third in the 400 (1:02.7).

Sherwood captured the top spot in the 400 hurdles (1:09.6) and Mark Vosburgh was third (1:18.3).

NV swept the 800 with Boldis first (2:17.8), Pirger second (2:23) and Patrick Bishop third (2:23.5).

Connor Vanzile finished third in the 200 (:26.6).

The Cardinals swept the 3200 with Sherwood (11:14), Yetter (11:36.1) and Vosburgh (12:03.8) going 1-2-3.

Duke won the shot put (37-2 3/4) and Levi Arnold was third (31-4).

Arnold and Duke went 1-2 in the discus with throws of 96-9 and 96-6, respectively.

Aiden Hollenbeck won the triple jump (37-6) and Kalpokas placed second (35-2 3/4).

Ford was the runner-up in the long jump (16-7 1/2) and Randell was third (16-4).

Kalpokas won the pole vault, clearing 11-6. Hollenbeck was second (10-0).

Candor and Newark Valley will compete in the Marathon Spring Fling Friday.
