Tioga County Sports Report
SPENCER — SVEC registered four falls and collected two forfeit wins, but the understaffed Eagles fell to Odessa-Montour / Watkins Glen, 42-36 in the season opener here Wednesday.

"Our guys won every match wrestled by pin," SVEC coach Jesse Buck said. "We just didn't have the numbers during this crazy season.

"Shane Neal had his first varsity win by pin."

Ousmane Duncanson scored the quick fall of the night, picking up a pair of takedowns before decking Mark Waterman in 57 seconds at 138 pounds.

SVEC's Kamren Buchanan (285) dispatched Stephen Barrett in 1:11 and Shane Neal (126) pinned Brdley Cantineri in 1:34.

Devin Beach (189) posted the Eagles' other fall, disposing of Braiden Ventra with one tick left on the second-period clock. Beach used a takedown and near fall for a 5-0 lead in the first period and added another takedown in the second.

Kaleb Smith (102) and Jayden Duncanson (110) received forfeits for the home team, getting their first varsity wins.

Exhibition Neal would come away with two wins on the night as he pinned Kadin Burnham in 5:50 to end a point-fest. Neal led 6-2 after one period and was ahead 12-7 after two. He was up 21-13 at the time of the fall.

OM/WG picked up all seven of its wins via forfeit.

The Eagles are without Parker Sexton, lost to a knee injury for the season. The senior standout, a Section IV Division II runner-up in 1990, saw his junior season end near the midway point due to an injury as well.

SVEC heads to Elmira Heights Saturday for a triangular with Edison and Newark Valley.
