ELMIRA HEIGHTS — Newark Valley blistered the nets for 29 first-quarter points en route to an 82-26 IAC South Large School thumping of Edison here Tuesday night.
Allie Wandell put up seven points in the opening stanza while Liz Ferguson and Gracie Gardner added three field goals apiece to start the rout.
The Spartans scored 12 points in the first period, all on 3-pointers, with three coming from KK Bush.
Bri Beebe drained three treys in the second quarter, putting up 11 points as the Cardinals extended their lead to 48-17 at the half.
She added two more threes and nine points in the third period, and Gracie Gardner added six points as the NV advantage grew to 67-22 heading into the final frame.
Gracie Gardner scored another six points in the fourth quarter and would share scoring honors with Beebe, each of them accounting for 20 points. Gardner added five rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots; and Beebe had three steals.
Hannah Ferguson contributed nine points, six boards and three assists; Makenna Nechwedowcih had eight points and seven rebounds; Wandell recorded seven points and five steals; Makana Gardner chipped in with six points, eight boards and a block; Liz Ferguson had six points and three assists; Allison Walker added four points and six rebounds; and Taylor Benjamin had two points, four assists and three steals.
Bush led Edison with nine points.
NV (18-0) closes out the regular season Tuesday at home against Binghamton.
