
ONEONTA — James McDonald ran to a 15th-place finish to lead the Owego boys at the 2019 Dave Forbes Invitational here Saturday. Chelsea Corey was the Indians' top female runner, taking 40th.
VARSITY BOYS
McDonald timed in at 18:18.1 as Owego placed eighth out of 18 teams with 212 points. Hunter Ellis and Matt Miller were separated by less than a second, finishing 42nd and 43rd, respectively, in 18:56.7 and 18:57.6. Dylan Pitcher was 57th in 19:32.4 and Jason Barnes was 66th in 20:00.1.
Also competing were Gavin Bowers (76th, 20:15.5), Justin Brown (82nd, 20:29.2) and Derek Sarrge (84th, 20:35.1).
Ithaca won the team title with 30 points and Waverly was third with 95.
VARSITY GIRLS
Corey led Owego to sixth out of 13 teams, clocking 23:09.1. Not far behind were Mary-Carol Hoover in 42nd with a time of 23:15.9 and Hannah Monell in 47th with a 23:58. Abigail Fahey took 58th in 24:47.3 and Katherine Gatto was 63rd at 25:03.3.
Others competing included Alyssa Stephens (64th, 25:13.5), Hailey McHugh (81st, 26:30), Katlyn Gusse (112th, 29:02.6), Alexandria Anderson (121st, 30:35.2), Amber Neumuth (122nd, 30:55.4), Macy Cunningham (124th, 30:58.4) and Ryleigh Williams (139th, 35:57.7).
Ithaca won the team challenge with 51 points, Waverly was fifth with 131 and Owego had 199.
JV BOYS
Ithaca captured the first 11 spots, then came Owego's Jayce Stuart in 12th with a time of 20:11.9.
Owen Casterline (16th, 20:29.2), Alex Brown (17th, 20:34.2), Nick Maslin (21st, 20:45.2) and Tanner Pratt (22nd, 20:50.9) rounded out the team scoring.
The Indians were second overall with 62 points. Ithaca had 15.
JV GIRLS
Owego (73 points) was third behind Ithaca (15) and Mohonasen (52).
Individual results were not posted.
MODIFIED BOYS
Kaden Krohmalney raced to a fourth-place finish, posting a time of 8:28. Riley Loomis was 12th in 8:57.4 and Noah Heath took 13th in 8:59.8. Owen Bronk was 20th in 9:26.4 and Kameron Wicklund rounded out the scoring, placing 32nd with a 10:16.4.
Owego was second with 66 points, just four points behind Delhi. Waverly took third with 80.
MODIFIED GIRLS
Owego did not have a full team, but Hailey Stephens finished 17th in 10:35.8 and Nora Schuyler was 30th in 13:01.5.
Owego hosts the OFA Invitational Saturday.
