Tioga County Sports Report
SPENCER — Edison has its sights set on repeating as Section IV Class C champion this season. So far, nobody has been able to come close to slowing the Spartans down.
S-VE gave it the best shot so far, but still came up short in an 11-1 IAC Division 2 loss to Edison here Thursday.
The Spartans, which had been outscoring opponents by 15.8 runs per game entering this game, scored a pair of runs in each of the first two innings and led, 5-0, when the Panthers pushed their run across in the bottom of the third.
Sam Deppe reached base via single and eventually scored on a passed ball. Tara Perkins and Rhianna Lawrence had hits also.
Hannah Harmon contributed a hit in the fourth and Shannon Connor had one in the fifth.
Edison took a 6-1 advantage into the final inning and sealed up the victory with five more runs, highlighted by a Bella Willsey home run.
She went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs while Christina Willsey and KK Bush had two hits each for Edison (7-0).
Reagan Seelye struck out eight to pick up the win.
S-VE (2-3) hosts Lansing Wednesday.
