Tioga County Sports ReportSTATEN ISLAND — Candor’s Logan Aman barely missed a spot in the 55-meter dash finals at the NYSPHSAA Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex here Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, Owego athletes broke a couple of school records.
Aman, recovering from a stress fracture of his foot, placed ninth out of 38 competitors in the preliminaries. His time of 6.499 seconds was .007 seconds behind the last qualifying spot for the finals.
Owego’s Gavin Heath placed 13th in a field of 35 runners in the 600. His time of 1:22.89 broke his previous school record of 1:24.02.
The River Hawks’ girls 4x800 relay of Stella Palladino, Sarah Heath, Abigail McHugh and Jaelyn Chrysler finished 29th with a school record time of 10:13.39, besting their previous mark of 10:35.88.
Owego’s Magavin Allen, Javan Belokur, Ryker Chrysler and Gavin Heath placed 30th with a time of 8:30.14, bettering their previous best time of 8:37.12.
One other Tioga County athlete, Tioga's Gavin Albrecht, cleared 14 feet to place ninth in the pole vault.
