Tioga County Sports ReportOWEGO — The Owego boys swimming & diving team held Senior Night for five swimmers during a 95-75 loss to Elmira in STAC action here Tuesday.
Following Dom Scherrer’s rendition of the National Anthem on his electric guitar, the River Hawks began a sweep of the relays.
Magavin Allen, Vincent Kneller, Eric Schrader and Javan Belokur captured the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:56.79, nipping the Express by 1.04 seconds.
Belokur won the next event, posting a time of 2:12. 42 in the 200 freestyle and winning by more than nine seconds.
Schrader followed with a victory in the 200 individual medley, clocking 2:17.2 to win by more than 15 seconds.
Elmira would win the next four events, then Schrader would tack on another victory, touching the wall first in the 500 free in 5:26.81, almost 26 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
Stephen Gilmore, Tobin Reynolds, Henry Schultz Larsson and SCherrer would follow with a win in the 200 free relay with a time of 2:09.26.
Allen would come away victorious in the 100 breaststroke, winning by more than 11 seconds with a time of 1:06.21.
The River Hawks ended the meet with Schrader, Belokur, Kneller and Allen taking the 400 free relay in 4:00.99.
Owego’s second-place finishers were Gilmore in the 100 fly (1:14.64), Kneller in the 100 free (1:04.19) and Belokur in the 500 free (5:52.75).
Taking third for the River Hawks were Padraig Allen in the 100 backstroke (1:16.08), Kneller in the 100 breast (1:23.14), and the 200 medley relay of Padraig Allen, Reynolds, Gilmore and Henry Schultz Larsson with a time of 2:19.17.
Allen, Belokur, Kneller, Scherrer and Schultz Larsson were honored in a ceremony before the meet.
Owego competes in the Section IV Class B preliminaries on Feb. 11.
