SECTION IV CHEERLEADING: NEWARK VALLEY CAPTURES CLASS D RUNNER-UP SPOT AT WILDCATS WINTER COMPETITION (2026-02-01)

JOHNSON CITY — The Newark Valley cheerleading squad took second place in Class D at the Wildcats Winter Competition held here Saturday.

The Cardinals scored 56.75 points to edge out Tioga, which placed third with 56.4 points. Seton Catholic won the class with 59.85 points. Also competing in Class D were Spencer-Van Etten and Watkins Glen.

Horseheads was named grand champion, scoring 90.9 points during the event. The Blue Raiders won the Class B title with Maine-Endwell second in the class with 48.45 points.

Elmira won Class A with 69.3 points and Corning was second with 43.

Waverly took second in Class C with 55.1 points. Chenango Valley won Class C with 73.35 points. Windsor was third with 53.25 points. Also competing in Class C were Susquehanna and Whitney Point.

The STAC championships will be held next Sunday at Union-Endicott. Newark Valley will host the IAC championships on Feb. 13. The Section IV championships will take place Feb. 28 at Chenango Valley and the state championships will be held at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena on March 7.
