(UPDATED) IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: CANDOR ROLLS PAST S-VE, 102-54 (2026-01-22)

SPENCER — The Candor offense was red hot as the Coyotes rolled to a 102-54 victory over Spencer-Van Etten in IAC South Small School boys basketball action here Wednesday.

Candor jumped out to a 28-14 first-quarter lead as Teagan Kwiatkowski put up eight points, Donald Makie added seven and Matthew Smith tacked on six. Kwiatkowski and Smith canned two 3-pointers apiece, and Makie had one.

Luukas Carling accounted for 10 of the Panthers’ points, including two treys.

Makie and Jakobe Foster scored seven points each in a 31-point second quarter barrage, and Smith tacked on another six as the Coyotes built a 59-27 halftime cushion.

Noah Ingram and Nick Oakes had five points each for S-VE.

Candor rode balanced scoring in the third period as it extended the lead to 82-43. Eight different players found the inside of the rim with nobody scoring more than four points.

Ingram had six for the Panthers.

The final frame saw Smith score 10 of the Coyotes’ points while Oakes had six for S-VE.

There were 23 3-pointers made during the game, 13 by Candor. Smith and Oakes sank four apiece for their respective teams.

Smith led all scorers with 26 points, including four 3-pointers, while Makie contributed 23 points (two threes) and went 5-for-6 at the free throw line. Foster had 5 points (one three) and Kwiatkowski chipped in with 12 points (two threes).

Ben Sheridan added eight points (two threes), Kellen Williamson pitched in with six points (one three), Ryan Huizinga and Kyron O’Dell added four points each, and James Pritchard tacked on a 3-pointer.

Foster had four assists, three steals and three rebounds; Makie had four rebounds, four assists and four steals; Kwiatkowski added three rebounds, three steals and three assists; and O'Dell pulled down 11 boards to go with two steals and one assist.

Sheridan grabbed six boards, handed out five assists and had one theft; Huizinga snagged eight rebounds; Smith added five rebounds, five steals and three assists; and Williamson tacked on three rebounds and one steal.

Carling put up 20 points for the Panthers and made three 3-pointers, Oakes chipped in with 14 points (four threes) and Ingram had 11 points (three threes). Nevin Mack scored five points, and Keith Hills and Jackson Bennett added two points apiece.
