Tioga County Sports ReportWINDSOR — Spencer-Van Etten / Candor’s Tayah Beach placed third and Taylor Zufall took seventh at the Windsor Lady Black Knights Invitational here Monday.
Beach started the tournament with a fall in 1:35 against Sherburne-Earlville’s Ava Mereness, then decked Juliza Nieves of Valley Central in 1:14. She fell to Lowville’s Payten Tuttle by pin in 2:46 in the semifinals.
In the consolation finals, Beach pinned Chenango Forks’ Emily Phelps in 2:43.
Zufall dropped her opener to Dolgeville’s Daphnee Howe by fall in 2:24, then reeled off four straight victories.
She scored an 11-0 tech fall over Autumn Miller of Sherburne-Earlville in 2:38, pinned Elmira’s Ava Noonan in 45 seconds and Sidney’s Dylan Casey in 1:43, then capped it off with a 10-0 tech fall in 1:45.
She lost to Owego’s Michaela Daly by a 12-2 tech fall in 3:30, then pinned Tioga’s Grace Howey in 5:51 in the placement round.
Katelynn VanEtten went 1-2 at 235. Her win was a fall against Tioga’s Emily Moniz in 1:26.
Also competing for the Eagles was Elizabeth Kunte at 100.
SVEC was 25th in the 44-team tournament with 39 points. U-E won the team title with 144.5.
