IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: CANDOR HOLDS OFF WINDSOR IN 67-60 WIN (22 PHOTOS) (2026-01-19)

CANDOR — Candor built a double-figure lead in the second quarter, then held off a third-quarter rally to top Windsor, 67-60, here Monday night in non-league boys basketball action.

Donald Makie buried a trio of 3-pointers and scored 11 points in the first quarter, and Teagan Kwiatkowski added five points, including a 3-pointer, to help the Coyotes to an 18-11 lead after the first eight minutes.

Jakobe Foster scored eight points in the second quarter, while Matthew Smith scored four points, and Makie canned another 3-pointer as Candor led by as many as 13 points, but led 37-28 at the halftime intermission.

The Black Knights closed the gap to one point, at 51-50, with a 22-14 third-quarter run. Foster and Makie scored six points apiece to keep the Coyotes in front heading into the final eight minutes.

In the fourth quarter, Makie pumped in eight points, including a 3-pointer, and Foster added six points, including an old-fashion three-point play.

The Coyotes also hit 7 of 9 free throws down the stretch, including a 5 of 6 effort by Makie.

Makie led Candor with 28 points, including five 3-pointers, and had three rebounds, and Foster had 21 points, seven rebonds, six assists, five steals, and one blocked shot.

Kwiatkowski scored seven points in the win, while Ben Sheridan had four points and four boards, Smith scored four points, Ryan Huizinga added five rebounds and two assists, and Kyle Jantz chipped in with three boards.

Windsor's Nico Soriano led all scorers with 29 points.

Candor returns to action Wednesday at S-VE.
