Tioga County Sports ReportMARATHON — Marathon outscored Spencer-Van Etten, 18-9, in the second quarter to break open a tight game on the way to a 48-32 IAC Small School girls basketball crossover game victory here Friday night.
Ahead, 22-11, the Olympians further extended their lead with a 17-6 third-quarter run to build a 39-17 cushion.
Juliana Rawson accounted for eight points in the second period while Audrey Ensign and Alina Parker scored five points each in the third.
Rawson led all scorers with 16 points, Ensign chipped in with 12 and Parker added 10 as Marathon improved to 5-6.
Kaidince Root led the Panthers on the scoreboard with 10 points. She also recorded two steals and one rebound, and Lauren Gillette pitched in with eight points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists.
Kendall Gentile added four points, five assists, two steals and two boards; Kaylee Kastenhuber contributed four points, three steals, an assist and a rebound; Amani Diboun accounted for four points, two boards and a steal; Trinity Dashler had two points and two boards; Kelsea Swayze grabbed two rebounds and Maddie Ellison snagged one board.
