Mason Peck and Devon Green led the Cardinal boys to a sweep of Edison.
"The boys had a solid night (Wednesday) night with notable series from Devon Green and Mason Peck," said NV coach Cody Cornell.
"Mason just missed his first 600 series by just two pins," noted Cornell. "I've had Mason on my team since 7th grade and it has been enjoyable as a coach to watch him grow and develop into the bowler he is today. I am hopeful he will get his first 600 series in the remaining matches we have this season.
"John Sloughter and Will Simmons had very strong second and third games, which helped us immensely.
"It was a great showing from the boys team and hoping this success carries into our match next Tuesday," added Cornell.
Peck rolled a 598 series, including a 220, and Green shot a 580, including games of 211 and 206, while Will Simmons had a 496.
John Sloughter had a 462 for the Cardinals, while Kaleb Jackson aded a 421, and Reese Illsley tacked on a 321.
Newark Valley won the first game 836-701, and followed it up with wins of 900-759 and 812-618 for a total-pinfall win of 2,548 to 2,078.
Dylan Carter led Groton with a 464 series.
GIRLS
Newark Valley 4, Edison 0
Rachel Hartman led Newark Valley to an uncontested sweep of Thomas A. Edison.
"The girls bowled well, just slightly lower than normal, however," said Cornell. "Abigail Dufresne was not able to attend the match which likely accounts for the lower pin total.
"Strong showings from Rachel Hartman and a great second game from Brook Illsley helped keep the team on pace," he noted.
"The girls managed to take eight points this week which will help them bounce back after a more difficult showing the week prior," added Cornell. "I'm hopeful this momentum carries over as we continue to bowl in the later half of the season."
Hartman rolled a 534 series, while Brook Illsley shot a 451, Makenna Jackson had a 393, and Abigail DeBolt added a 380, and Stormi Wiley tacked on a 279.
Newark Valley returns to action Tuesday at Lansing.
