POPLAR RIDGE — Southern Cayuga raced out to a quick double-digit lead on its way to a 65-48 win over Spencer-VanEtten here Thursday night in IAC boys basketball action.
Jordan Stevens knocked down a trio of 3-pointers, and scored all 11 of his points for Southern Cayuga to fuel a 24-11 first-quarter run.
Daegan Miller pumped in 10 of his game-high 26 points for the Chiefs, who used a 15-10 spurt to extend the lead to 39-21 at the half.
Miller poured in 12 points in the third quarter to lead Southern Cayuga in a 23-14 run to extend the lead to 62-35 heading into the final eight points.
Luukas Carling scored six points in the fourth quarter, while Nick Oakes added four points, and Taylor Vanderpoel canned his third 3-pointer of the game in a 13-3 game-closing run for the Panthers.
Carling led S-VE with 25 points, while Vanderpoel had nine points, Oakes added six points, and Noah Ingram chipped in with five points.
S-VE returns to action Friday when it hosts Marathon.
