IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: EARLY HOLE COSTLY IN S-VE LOSS TO O-M (2026-01-13)

ODESSA — Odessa-Montour bolted out to a 22-3 first-quarter lead and went on to defeat Spencer-Van Etten, 53-22, in IAC South Small School boys basketball action here Tuesday.

Moe Zinger put up seven points, James Halpin had six and Aaron Sutton added five to lead the early charge. Zinger and Sutton nailed one 3-pointer apiece in the period.

The Grizzlies extended their advantage to 39-7 at halftime as Zinger accounted for another eight points, including a pair of treys.

Sutton drained his second 3-pointer of the game in the third quarter and Dana Spaccio tacked on a trey as O-M built a 49-13 cushion heading into the fourth quarter.

Zinger led all scorers with 17 points and Sutton tacked on a dozen more.

Nick Oakes led the Panthers with seven points and Noah Ingram scored six. Keith Hills, Cameron Sundquist and Tyler Tufford contributed three points apiece.

Oakes and Tufford canned one 3-pointer each.
