NACOGDOCHES, Tx. — Newark Valley grad Cha Gardner continued her strong sophomore year with back-to-back double-figure scoring games, including her third double-double of the season for Division I Stephen F. Austin.
In her last three games, Gardner is averaging 9.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1.7 blocks per game. She shot 80 percent (12 of 15) from the field and knocked down her only 3-point shot.
On Jan. 3, Gardner scored 12 points on 5 of 6 shooting from the field, and hauled down 10 rebounds, including five offensive boards. She also had one block.
On the season, Gardner, who has started all 16 games, is averaging 8.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 blocks, playing an average of 23 minutes per game. She is shooting 55.6 percent from the field and has four 3-pointers.
Stephen F. Austin, now 11-5, returns to action Thursday at Nicholls University in Thibodaux, La.
