Tioga County Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — Basketball takes center stage this week with more than half of the week's events on the hoop hardwoods.
There are 32 events on this week's docket, including 10 on Tuesday and eight on Friday. Seventeen of the 32 events are basketball games.
The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:
MONDAY (2)
• Owego hosts Chenango Forks on the bowling hardwoods at the Owego Bowl.
TUESDAY (10)
• The Candor boys host longtime IAC hoops rival Tioga, while the Lady Coyotes make the short trip to Tioga.
• The Owego wrestling teams host Susquehanna Valley in STAC wrestling duals.
• Newark Valley hosts Watkins Glen on the hoop hardwoods.
• The S-VE boys host IAC Small School rival O-M.
• The Owego boys host Chenango Valley in a STAC swimming dual.
• Newark Valley hosts Union Springs on the hardwoods at Cardinal Lanes.
WEDNESDAY (5)
• Owego hosts STAC divisional boys hoop rival Chenango Valley.
• SVEC hosts IAC Large School foe Whitney Point for a wrestling dual.
• Newark Valley's wrestlers host Groton in an IAC dual.
• Newark Valley hosts Edison in an IAC bowling match.
• Owego hosts Chenango Valley on the bowling hardwoods at the Owego Bowl.
THURSDAY (5)
• Owego hosts Chenango Forks in a key STAC Central Division girls hoop game.
• Candor hosts Lansing on the lanes at the Owego Bowl.
FRIDAY (8)
• The Candor boys host powerhouse Moravia in an IAC crossover hoops match-up.
• Newark Valley hosts division-leading Notre Dame in an IAC Large School boys hoop contest.
• S-VE hosts Marathon in an IAC Small School crossover boys basketball game.
SATURDAY (2)
• Owego is at Midway Lanes for the STAC Mid-Winter Championships.
