IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: HOT-SHOOTING LANSING TOPS NEWARK VALLEY, 75-50 (2026-01-09)

Tioga County Sports Report
LANSING — Lansing enjoyed a hot shooting night that Newark Valley could not match in a 75-50 loss here Friday night in IAC Large School crossover boys basketball action.

"At halftime, we were feeling pretty good about only being down 10, given the way they were shooting the ball," said Newark Valley coach Scott Stratton.

"(Lansing's) hot streak continued in the second half, unfortunately, despite our various attempts to find a defensive answer.

"We have to give it to them. They played well tonight,"  I know we can play better."

The Bobcats knocked down seven 3-pointers in the first half on its way to a 33-23 lead.

Lansing stretched its lead to 15 points, at 50-35, after three quarters, then closed the game with a 25-15 run.

Tim Wojtysiak led a balanced Newark Valley offense with 14 points, while Ashton Green scored 13, and Tristan Veruto added 12. Cooper Davis chipped in with seven.

Newark Valley returns to action Tuesday at Watkins Glen.
