Tioga County Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — Owego senior Javan Belokur garnered the Section IV Class B champion honor this season and went on to pace the Tioga County contingent at the NYSPHSAA Boys Cross Country Championships in November.
A repeat sectional champion, he has been selected the All-Tioga County Boys Cross Country "Runner of the Year."
River Hawk freshman Joram Belokur is the "Newcomer of the Year" and Owego’s John Heath is the "Coach of the Year."
Javan Belokur had an impressive final season, running to the STAC Central Division title and leading Owego to the team championship.
He repeated as the Section IV Class B champion and led the River Hawks to a second-place team finish.
Javan Belokur led a trio of Owego runners at the state championships, placing 85th in the Class B division.
Joram Belokur started the season on the junior varsity team, but would make his way into the varsity lineup.
He finished 15th in the STAC Central Division race and was 61st overall in STAC. He placed 21st at the Section IV Class B championships.
Heath guided the River Hawks to several impressive showings throughout the fall with his team closing out the season as the STAC Central Division champions and the Section IV Class B runner-up.

Magavin Allen, senior, Owego: He was fourth in the STAC Central Division and 35th overall in STAC. He went on to place 10th at the Section IV Class B meet and finished 106th at the state championships.
Chase Hine, junior, Waverly: He ran to a third-place showing in the STAC Central Division and was 29th overall in STAC. Hine took sixth in Section IV Class C meet and crossed the finish line 97th at the state championships.
Hayden Montanye, sophomore, Waverly: Montanye took fifth in the STAC Central Division and was 38th overall in STAC. He placed seventh at the Section IV Class C meet and took 87th at the state championships.
Levi Saunders, junior, Owego: He finished ninth in the STAC Central Division and 55th in STAC overall. Saunders was 11th at the Section IV Class B meet and placed 111th at the state championships.
Gavin Heath, senior, Owego: Heath was eighth in the STAC Central Division and 50th overall in STAC. At the Section IV Class B meet, he placed 14th, missing out on a trip to the state championships by one spot.
Leland Houston, sophomore, Newark Valley: He took 15th at the IAC championships and 17th at the Section IV Class D meet.
