The Cardinals trailed 28-6 early, but stormed back to take a 38-28 lead before junior 285-pounder Jack Blomberg sealed the win with a fall.
Eighth-grader Sheldon Houston started off the match with a second-period fall to put the Cardinals up 6-0, but Horseheads registered back-to-back technical falls and three straight pins to take a 28-6 lead.
Senior Logan Rhodes stopped the Horseheads run with a wild 14-10 decision over Kole Zufall at 144 pounds, and senior Marcos Escalante followed it up with an 18-0 technical fall of Trent Woodward in 3:39 to close the gap to 28-14.

Waverly rolled out to a quick 29-0 lead on a technical fall and four consecutive pins, and Newark Valley never recovered in a 58-22 loss.
After sophomore Logan Davis received a forfeit at 138 pounds to put the Cardinals on the board, Waverly senior (and Hodgkins Lymphoma survivor) Daltton Davis forged an 18-1 technical fall over senior Logan Rhodes in 5:17 to give the Wolverines a 34-6 lead.

The Wolverines closed out the match by winning four of the final five bouts, with senior Titus Callahan's pin of freshman Brooks Lathrop in 1:30 the Cardinals' lone win in that stretch.
Newark Valley, now 4-1, returns to action Saturday at the Partridge Duals at Corning-Painted Post High School.
