Tioga County Sports ReportWATKINS GLEN — The Newark Valley boys won the first game, but Watkins Glen answered to win a 3-1 decision here Tuesday, while the Cardinal girls swept the short-handed Lake Hawks in IAC bowling action at Harborside Lanes.
BOYS
Watkins Glen 3, Newark Valley 1
Newark Valley won the first game 745-675, but Watkins Glen won the next to games by scores of 846-668 and 715-672 for a total-pinfall win of 2,237 to 2,085.
Devon Green led the Cardinals with a 470 series, while Mason Peck rolled a 421, and William Simmons shot a 411.
Kaleb Jackson had a 403 for Newark Valley, while Reese Illsley added a 366, and John Sloughter tacked on a 351.
GIRLS
Newark Valley 4, Watkins Glen 0
Rachel Hartman rolled a 555 series, including a 210, to lead the Cardinals to a sweep of the short-handed Lake Hawks.
Abigail Dufresne had a 349, while Brook Illsley had a 339, Maeanna Jackson added a 338, and Abigail DeBolt tacked on a 327.
